During the 1910s young girls wore big bows on their hair that fell onto the head, and so they became known as "flappers". The name would stick with this generation, as they grew up in the 1920s.

Oh I wish I could find those gloves in my size! Whenever I come across 30s gloves they are always a size too small.
I don't usually buy vintage clothing, but sounds like I'd be a great candidate for gloves -- I'm petite! :)
